  • Menu planning
  • On-site cooking
  • Kitchen cleanup
  • Standard Cairo travel
  • Shopping list or ingredient sourcing
  • Dietary and allergy review

A deeply important division of labour.

WHO’S DOING THE SHOPPING?

I’LL SHOP

We’ll send the approved list before your booking. Please have every ingredient ready when the chef arrives.

FI AKLA SHOPS

We buy the agreed ingredients and bring them with us. The grocery estimate plus a 10% sourcing fee is paid in advance and reconciled against receipts. The chef service fee is separate and paid after the visit by cash or InstaPay.

FAQ. THE STUFF YOU ACTUALLY NEED TO KNOW.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE CHEF COMES OVER?

Before your booking, your chef will contact you on WhatsApp to confirm the details and let you know when they’re on the way.

All we need from you is a clear workspace, working appliances and some room in the fridge. If you’re buying the groceries, please have them ready when the chef arrives.

Your chef will cook your chosen menu, pack everything away and clean up after themselves. You don’t need to provide containers—we bring them. You provide the kitchen; we leave you with a fridge full of food.

WHO BUYS THE GROCERIES?

Either of us. If you’re shopping, we’ll send you a recommended grocery list before your booking. If you’d rather avoid the supermarket entirely, we can source everything for you for an additional 10%.

Occasionally, an ingredient might be unavailable. If we need to make a substitution, we’ll contact you first.

WHAT DOES MY KITCHEN NEED?

Nothing fancy—a working stove, oven, fridge, sink and basic cookware should cover it. Tell us which appliances you have when booking, and your chef will bring any smaller specialist tools they need.

CAN I CHANGE THE MENU?

Yes. If you’re buying the groceries, you can change your menu up to four hours before your booking.

If we’re sourcing the groceries, changes need to be made at least 24 hours in advance. By then, we may already be emotionally and financially committed to the salmon.

CAN YOU WORK AROUND ALLERGIES, DIETS OR PICKY EATERS?

Usually, yes. Add any allergies, dietary requirements and household food politics when you book, and we’ll confirm what we can accommodate.

Our chefs work in home kitchens, so we can’t guarantee a completely allergen-free environment in cases of severe allergies.

HOW FAR AHEAD SHOULD I BOOK?

Book at least 24 hours ahead if you are buying the groceries, or 48 hours ahead if Fi Akla is sourcing them. Rescheduling is governed by the cancellation policy: one request more than 10 days before the visit, subject to availability.

WHERE DO YOU COOK?

We currently cover East, West and Downtown Cairo. Somewhere else? Send us your location—we’ll see what we can do.

CANCELLATION POLICY

  • More than 10 days before the visit: full refund of the booking fee, or reschedule once subject to chef availability.
  • From 4 to 10 days before the visit: 50% refund; the remaining 50% is retained as an administration fee.
  • During the final 3 calendar days, including 72 hours or less before the visit: non-refundable.
  • If Fi Akla cancels: reschedule or receive a full refund, including the booking fee and any unused ingredient charges.
  • Approved ingredient costs already committed or purchased are non-refundable to the extent they cannot be recovered.
